History of Amazon Mechanical Turk
In November 2005 Amazon.com launched Amazon Mechanical Turk a web-based marketplace for "artificial intelligence" (AI) services sometimes called "human computation". Requesters post tasks (known as "HITs") that workers (called "Providers") can complete for a fee. HITs are typically simple tasks that require human intelligence such as identifying objects in a photograph or video transcribing audio recordings or researching data details.
